Ahmed Abuelhassan, of Fairfax, was stopped by an officer on Columbia Pike in Arlington around 12:30 a.m. on Monday, May 20, who had spotted a car with stolen tags, county police said.
Abuelhassan proceeded to reverse the vehicle into an officer's cruiser and hit a fence and parked car, while attempting to flee the scene, police said. No injuries were reported. Abuelhassan subsequently got out of the vehicle and was non-complaint with officers' commands before he was taken into custody.
While in custody, Abuelhassan gave false identifying information to officers and upon accurately identifying the suspect, it was determined he was wanted out of other jurisdictions, police said. During the course of the investigation, drugs were recovered and the vehicle which was confirmed to be stolen out of Fairfax County.
Abuelhassan was charged with assault on police, unauthorized use of a vehicle, destruction of property, possession with intent to distribute drugs, possession fo schedule I/II narcotics, and identity theft. He was held without bond.
